The Ethos Approach

At Ethos Homes, we build with care for the land, the future, and the families who will call these houses home. From lot selection to finishing touches, our homes are designed to last—and to tread lightly.

Site Selection & Environmental Stewardship

We begin with the land. Our homes are built in communities that support Florida’s natural ecosystems, and we work intentionally to preserve existing trees—whether native or not—for their shade, carbon absorption, and habitat benefits.

Unlike many builders who clear-cut entire lots, we preserve as much greenery as possible, protecting tree lines and native plants to maintain biodiversity and reduce heat. The result is a home that complements the landscape rather than replacing it.

Water-Wise, Pollinator-Friendly Landscaping

We apply a xeriscaping approach, using Bahia grass—which stays healthy year-round without irrigation—and native or climate-adapted plants that require no pesticides or chemical fertilizers. This reduces environmental impact, saves water, and lowers maintenance costs.

We also choose pollinator-friendly plants to support bees, butterflies, and other keystone species. When practical, we even include edible landscaping to promote sustainability and connection to nature.

Thoughtful Construction Practices

From the ground up, we minimize our environmental footprint. Our construction process includes careful waste management, pollution prevention, and locally sourced materials whenever possible—cutting down on transportation emissions and supporting regional suppliers.

We’re also proud to say our homes consistently exceed expectations during inspections. Local property inspectors have noted that our craftsmanship surpasses industry norms, especially during performance tests like the blower door test, where our homes have demonstrated outstanding air-tightness and energy retention.

Sustainable Design & Material Choices

Ethos homes are designed for Florida’s climate. Strategic roof overhangs and window placement enable passive solar benefits—keeping homes cool in summer and warm in winter. Our layouts maximize natural light and encourage ventilation to reduce energy usage.

Inside, we choose materials that are not only beautiful but built to last:

    •    High PEI-rated porcelain tile throughout floors and walls

    •    Non-porous Quartzite and Quartz countertops for longevity and stain resistance

    •    Natural textures and patterns to reflect biophilic design principles, creating interiors that feel grounded and calming

Energy Efficiency & Smart Systems

Each home is equipped with modern, energy-saving systems to reduce utility bills and environmental impact:

    •    ENERGY STAR® Samsung appliances

    •    Smart thermostats and efficient water heaters

    •    High-performance dual-stage HVAC systems. A two-stage (dual-stage) HVAC system is more efficient than a single-stage system because it can operate at two different capacity levels, allowing for more precise and consistent temperature control while reducing energy consumption.

    •    R-30 ceiling insulation provides a significant level of thermal resistance, which reduces heat transfer through the ceiling. This helps minimize heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer, leading to energy savings and improved indoor comfort. By reducing the strain on HVAC systems, R30 insulation also contributes to lower energy bills and a more comfortable home environment.

    •    Water-saving dual-flush toilets and low-flow fixtures

Our efficiency-first approach supports sustainable living without sacrificing convenience or comfort.

Storm Resilience & Comfort

Every home is built with Florida’s weather in mind. We install Lawson 7700 Hurricane Guard impact windows—rated to withstand 150 mph winds. These windows eliminate the need for shutters and also improve insulation and soundproofing, making homes safer, quieter, and more efficient.

Durability & Strength

Our foundations are reinforced with transfer bars crucial for strengthening, reducing tensile forces, and enhancing overall structural integrity and lifespan. This is uncommon in Port St. Lucie and puts us a cut above the rest. Although this is not a requirement, we make a point to go above and beyond to ensure our foundation’s strength and our homes’ longevity.

Healthy Interiors

Your indoor environment matters. We use low-VOC Sherwin-Williams paints in neutral, nature-inspired tones to promote better air quality and create a sense of calm. Every design decision reflects our commitment to both aesthetics and wellness.

What Sets Us Apart

Most Florida builders focus on scale. We focus on ethics, longevity, and detail. From preserving land to using the highest quality finishes, every Ethos Home reflects our dedication to thoughtful construction and environmental integrity. We build fewer homes—but we build them better.
